Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toast M&Ms Before Baking 🍫Press M&Ms onto cookies in the last 2-3 minutes of baking so they soften slightly and adhere better without completely melting into the dough.
- Chill Dough for Better Shape 🧊Refrigerate brownie mix dough for 15-20 minutes before scooping to prevent excessive spreading and maintain defined cookie edges with patriotic M&M placement.
- Balance Wet Ingredients Carefully ⚖️Use minimal water when mixing brownie mix—start with less than recipe suggests and add gradually to avoid dense, cake-like cookies and achieve the ideal chewy texture.
- Sort M&Ms by Color First 🎨Pre-separate red, white, and blue M&Ms into small bowls before baking to streamline decoration and ensure even patriotic color distribution across all cookies.
- Underbake Slightly for Chewiness 🍪Remove cookies when edges are set but centers still appear slightly underdone—they'll continue cooking as they cool, resulting in perfectly soft and chewy brownies-cookies.
