Remove the syrup from the heat and let it steep for 10-30 minutes. Then, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve. Discard the leftover ginger. Let the syrup cool completely.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Craft Your Own Ginger Syrup 🍯Simmer fresh ginger slices with sugar and water for 15-20 minutes, then strain and cool. This homemade syrup delivers superior flavor complexity compared to store-bought versions and allows you to control the spice intensity.
- Toast Crystallized Ginger First 🔥Briefly warm your crystallized ginger pieces in a dry pan before muddling to intensify their flavor and create a more aromatic garnish that won't overpower the drink's balance.
- Use One Large Ice Cube ❄️Chill your glass with a single large ice cube rather than multiple small ones to minimize dilution while maintaining proper temperature throughout sipping, preserving the bourbon's complexity.
- Express Citrus Oils Over the Drink 🍋When twisting your lemon peel, hold it skin-side down over the finished cocktail and squeeze sharply so the essential oils mist across the surface, adding aromatic depth and visual elegance to your presentation.
- Balance Bitters with Temperature 🌡️Add ginger bitters after the ice is fully chilled to prevent them from dissipating too quickly; the colder temperature helps the spicy notes bloom gradually as the drink warms, creating a more evolved tasting experience.
