Air-Fryer BBQ Chicken Wings
Instructions
1
Dry the wings very well with paper towels. You want them to be as dry as possible! Then, place the wings in a large bowl. Add the baking powder and BBQ rub. Toss until the wings are well coated. Set aside.
2
Grease the basket of an air fryer with neutral oil or cooking spray. Then, place the wings skin-side up in a single layer in the air fryer basket. It's ok if they're touching a little on the edges, they will shrink as they cook!
3
Fry the wings at 390°F (200°C) for 10 minutes. Then, flip the wings and fry them for 6-8 more minutes until they're crispy on the outside and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part.
4
Toss the wings with the BBQ sauce until they are nice and saucy. Then, air fry them for another minute per side, until they are sticky and lightly charred in some spots. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Wings Completely Dry 💧Use paper towels to thoroughly dry the chicken wings before applying the BBQ rub—this creates a crispy exterior and helps the seasoning adhere better for maximum flavor.
- Double-Coat for Sticky Perfection 🍯Apply BBQ sauce in two layers: brush halfway through cooking, then again in the final 2-3 minutes to build layers of caramelized, sticky coating without burning.
- Baking Powder Amplifies Crispiness ✨The aluminum-free baking powder in your rub raises the pH of the chicken skin, allowing it to brown faster and achieve restaurant-quality crispiness in the air fryer.
- Single-Layer Arrangement is Key 🍗Arrange wings in a single layer without crowding the basket—this ensures even air circulation and prevents steaming, giving you consistently crispy results across all wings.
- Toss Mid-Cook for Even Coating 🔄Shake the basket and flip wings halfway through cooking to ensure the rub and sauce coat evenly on all sides for balanced flavor and texture.
