Tips & Tricks (5)
- Freeze Before Coating 🧊Chill your cut onion in the freezer for 30 minutes before dipping in the batter to ensure the coating adheres better and prevents the onion from becoming mushy during air frying.
- Double Dip Technique 🥣Dip the onion in the egg-milk mixture, then flour, then back into the egg mixture once more before air frying for an extra-crispy, golden exterior that mimics the restaurant version.
- Spray Oil Evenly ✨Lightly mist the blooming onion with cooking spray on all sides before air frying to achieve maximum crispiness and a beautiful golden-brown color throughout.
- Season the Flour Mix 🧂Mix your paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper directly into the flour before coating to ensure even seasoning distribution and more flavorful petals.
- Perfect Separation Timing ⏱️Remove the blooming onion from the air fryer when still hot and let it cool for exactly 2-3 minutes before separating the petals; this allows the coating to set while the onion remains tender.
