Tips & Tricks (5)
- Dry Shrimp Thoroughly 💧Pat shrimp completely dry with paper towels before breading—excess moisture prevents crispy coating and causes uneven browning in the air fryer.
- Double-Dredge for Extra Crunch 🍤After coating shrimp in the egg wash, dredge through the breadcrumb mixture twice for a thicker, crunchier crust that mimics traditional deep-fried texture.
- Cornmeal-Panko Ratio Secret 🌽Mix cornmeal and panko at a 1:2 ratio for optimal crispiness—cornmeal adds texture and prevents sogginess while panko provides golden color and crunch.
- Single Layer Spacing Matters 📏Arrange shrimp in a single layer with space between each piece for even air circulation; overcrowding traps steam and results in soggy breading.
- Toast Your Hoagie Roll 🥖Lightly butter and air fry the hoagie rolls at 350°F for 2-3 minutes before assembly to create a sturdy base that won't get soggy from mayo and toppings.
