Cook on high for four hours or until fruit is broken down.
4
|
Strain fruit and mulling spices from the mixture.
5
|
Cool to room temperature.
6
|
Add whiskey and grain alcohol once mixture is completely cooled.
7

Transfer Boilo to mason jars with tight fitting lids and store in a cool, dry place.
8

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Infuse Spices Slowly 🌟
Add mulling spices and cinnamon sticks at the beginning and let them steep for at least 30 minutes on low heat to extract maximum flavor without bitterness from over-extraction.
  • Balance Your Spirits Wisely 🥃
Add grain alcohol and whiskey separately—start with whiskey for depth, then add grain alcohol last to preserve its potency and warming quality without evaporating the alcohol content.
  • Fresh Citrus at the End 🍋
Squeeze fresh lemon and orange juice just before serving rather than cooking them in, as heat destroys their bright acidity that balances the sweetness and spice.
  • Use Quality Apple Cider 🍎
Choose unpasteurized or fresh-pressed apple cider for deeper, more complex apple flavor—avoid sweetened versions that will make your Boilo overly sugary and cloying.
  • Keep it Warm, Never Hot 🔥
Maintain the mixture at a gentle simmer (never boiling) to preserve the delicate flavors of cranberry juice and honey while keeping the alcohol from completely cooking off.
