Tips & Tricks (5)
- Apple Prep Prevents Sogginess 🍎Thinly slice Granny Smith apples and pat them dry with paper towels just before assembling to prevent excess moisture from making the tortilla soggy during cooking.
- Butter the Outside, Not Inside 🧈Apply a thin layer of butter to the exterior of the tortilla before pan-frying for a golden, crispy exterior while keeping the inside filling dry and the cheese perfectly melted.
- Medium Heat is Your Sweet Spot 🔥Cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side rather than high heat to allow the cheese to melt completely while the tortilla becomes crispy without burning the honey or apples.
- Layer Cheese on Both Sides 🧀Place a thin cheese layer against each tortilla half before adding apples to create a moisture barrier that prevents sogginess and ensures the cheese adheres properly.
- Drizzle Honey Just Before Serving 🍯Add honey as a finishing drizzle after cooking rather than before to preserve its distinct flavor and prevent it from caramelizing or burning during the pan-frying process.
