Breakfast Crescent Roll Ring

Instructions

1
Preheat oven to 375℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2
Unroll crescent dough and separate triangles.
3
Place the wide ends in a star shape on the prepared baking pan, slightly overlapping so that the center is a circle, like the center of a wreath.
4
Arrange one slice of cooked bacon on each triangle.
5
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and half-and-half.
6
Separate one egg, and set egg white aside.
7
Add the egg yolk, remaining eggs, salt and pepper to cream cheese mixture and mix well.
8
Add green onions and bell pepper.
9
In a large skillet, melt butter; add egg and cream cheese mixture. Cook and stir over medium heat until just set. Remove from heat and spoon scrambled eggs over the base of the wreath.
10
Lay slices of cheese on top of the eggs.
11
Fold the spokes of crescent dough over the egg mixture to form a wreath, tucking the ends underneath the wreath.
12
Beat reserved egg white and brush over dough.
13
Bake for 25-28 minutes or until golden brown.
14
If the crescents start to brown too much, cover loosely with aluminum foil.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Seal the Ring Perfectly 🔐
Overlap the crescent roll dough edges by at least half an inch and press firmly together, then seal with a beaten egg wash to prevent filling from leaking during baking and ensure a cohesive, beautiful ring structure.
  • Pre-cook Bacon for Texture Control 🥓
Cook the Hatfield Applewood Smoked Bacon until just shy of crispy, then crumble it finely—this prevents soggy centers while ensuring the bacon flavor distributes evenly throughout the ring without burning during the longer bake time.
  • Drain Vegetables Thoroughly 💧
After sautéing the red bell pepper and green onion, spread them on paper towels to remove excess moisture, which prevents a watery, soggy filling and ensures the crescent dough bakes golden instead of steaming.
  • Create an Egg Custard Bridge 🥚
Whisk eggs with half and half until completely smooth and homogeneous before pouring over the filling—this creates an even, custard-like consistency that binds all ingredients together and bakes uniformly for professional presentation.
  • Position on Parchment for Easy Transfer 📄
Assemble the entire ring directly on parchment paper before adding the egg mixture, allowing you to slide it seamlessly onto a baking sheet and preventing the delicate, unbaked dough from tearing or losing its ring shape.
