Instructions
1
In a medium pan, melt the butter over low heat.
2
Add onions and sugar and cook until caramelized, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3
Remove from heat, cover and keep warm.
4
Combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce and Homemade Seasoned Salt. Mix by hand just until combined (be careful not to over mix).
5
Shape into six patties that are about 1 inch thick. Push a ½ inch indent into the center of the patty to prevent the patty from swelling into a dome.
6
Cook until desired doneness, toast rolls and then assemble the burgers with onions and other toppings.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Low and Slow Caramelization 🧅Cook onions on medium-low heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring frequently, to develop deep caramel color and complex sweetness without burning. Add a pinch of sugar halfway through to accelerate the Maillard reaction.
- Butter Finish for Umami 🧈Finish the caramelized onions with a knob of butter in the last 2 minutes to add richness and deepen the savory flavor that complements the Gouda perfectly.
- Toast Your Kaiser Roll 🥖Lightly butter and toast the Kaiser rolls on a hot griddle for 1-2 minutes until golden to prevent sogginess and add textural contrast to the juicy burger.
- Worcestershire Marinade Trick 🥣Mix Worcestershire sauce directly into the ground chuck 15 minutes before forming patties to infuse umami depth throughout the meat, not just on the surface.
- Create a Cheese Cradle ⭐Place Gouda slices on the burger while it rests off heat, then top with warm caramelized onions so they gently melt the cheese and create a flavor-locked layer.
