Bring the sauce a boil, reduce heat and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Pork Rind Texture Secret 🥓
Pulse pork rind crumbs into fine, uniform pieces rather than using them as-is; this creates better binding and a lighter, crispier exterior than traditional breadcrumbs while maintaining moisture.
  • Chill Before Cooking ❄️
Refrigerate the mixture for 15-20 minutes before rolling into balls; this prevents them from falling apart during cooking and ensures even heat distribution throughout the meatball.
  • Balance Your Spice Layers 🌶️
Add red pepper flakes to the meat mixture and reserve some for the sauce; this creates layered heat that builds complexity rather than one-note spiciness that overpowers the sweet-savory profile.
  • Sear Then Finish 🔥
Sear meatballs in a hot pan for 2-3 minutes per side to develop a golden crust, then finish cooking in the sauce on medium-low heat for tender, juicy interiors without drying out.
  • Vinegar Timing Maximizes Flavor ⏱️
Add apple cider vinegar to the sauce in the final 2 minutes of cooking to preserve its tangy brightness and prevent the acidity from becoming harsh or overpowering the sweet-spicy balance.
