Instructions
1
In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add the melted butter and mix well. Stir in the eggs, followed by the vanilla extract.Add the brown sugar and white sugar and mix until fully combined. Next, add the flour and baking powder and gently fold everything together until just combined. Do not overmix. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips and heart-shaped sprinkles evenly throughout the batter.
2
Pour the batter into a lined loaf pan. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips and heart sprinkles on top. Bake at 180°C (top & bottom heat) for about 55 minutes.
3
After 45 minutes, loosely cover the loaf with aluminum foil to prevent overbrowning.
4
Remove from the oven and let the banana bread cool in the pan. Slice once fully cooled for clean cuts and the best texture.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Bananas at Peak Ripeness 🍌Use bananas with brown spots and soft texture for maximum natural sweetness and moisture; overripe bananas create a denser, more flavorful crumb that requires slightly less added sugar.
- Brown Butter for Depth 🧈Melt the unsalted butter and let it brown for 2-3 minutes before cooling, adding a rich, nutty undertone that elevates the chocolate and banana flavors significantly.
- Strategic Chocolate Chip Placement 🍫Reserve half the chocolate chips and sprinkle them into the batter at the very end, then top with remaining chips before baking to ensure some melt into the crumb while others stay intact on top.
- Mashing Technique Matters 🥄Mash bananas until mostly smooth but with small chunks remaining; this prevents overmixing the batter later, which keeps the bread tender and prevents tough gluten development.
- Heart Sprinkle Timing ❤️Add heart sprinkles during the last 2-3 minutes of baking rather than before, preventing them from sinking into the crumb and keeping their vibrant color visible on the finished loaf.
