Stir in the eggs, followed by the vanilla extract.Add the brown sugar and white sugar and mix until fully combined. Next, add the flour and baking powder and gently fold everything together until just combined. Do not overmix. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips and heart-shaped sprinkles evenly throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into a lined loaf pan. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips and heart sprinkles on top. Bake at 180°C (top & bottom heat) for about 55 minutes.

After 45 minutes, loosely cover the loaf with aluminum foil to prevent overbrowning.

Remove from the oven and let the banana bread cool in the pan. Slice once fully cooled for clean cuts and the best texture.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Banana Ripeness is Crucial 🍌
Use bananas with brown spots and soft flesh for maximum sweetness and moisture; overripe bananas (almost black) provide the best flavor and natural binding without excess eggs.
  • Brown Sugar Creates Superior Moisture 🟤
Replace some white sugar with brown sugar to add molasses content, which enhances moisture retention and creates a tender, cake-like crumb that stays fresh longer.
  • Toast Your Chocolate Chips 🍫
Lightly warm chocolate chips in the oven for 2-3 minutes before folding into batter to intensify their flavor and prevent them from sinking to the bottom during baking.
  • Don't Overmix Your Batter ✋
Mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined with some flour streaks visible; overmixing activates gluten and creates a dense, tough crumb instead of the desired fluffy texture.
  • Add Sprinkles Mid-Bake ❤️
Sprinkle hearts on top after 15 minutes of baking rather than before; this prevents them from sinking while ensuring they stay vibrant and on the surface for visual appeal.
