These Cinnamon Scones are amazing. If you are a fan of cinnamon rolls or any other cinnamon and sugar dessert, then this recipe is definitely for you. The scones are super easy because they are a drop scone, much like a biscuit. They have a decadent glaze that your family will love.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Keep Butter Ice-Cold ❄️
Chill your unsalted butter in the freezer for 15 minutes before cutting it into the flour; cold butter creates steam pockets that produce light, flaky scones instead of dense ones.
  • Don't Overmix the Dough 🚫
Mix the dry ingredients and butter together just until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, then gently fold in wet ingredients—overmixing develops gluten and makes scones tough and dense.
  • Toast the Oats First 🔆
Lightly toast your old-fashioned oats in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes before adding them to the dough to enhance their nutty flavor and prevent them from absorbing excess moisture.
  • Glaze While Still Warm 🎨
Apply the confectioners sugar glaze to scones within 5 minutes of removing them from the oven while they're still warm, allowing it to set into a beautiful glossy coating.
  • Cream Cheese Glaze Enhancement 🧈
Mix a tablespoon of cream cheese into your confectioners sugar glaze along with vanilla for a richer, more luxurious coating that complements the cinnamon beautifully.
