Instructions

1
|
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a 9×13 glass baking dish with parchment paper (leaving some hanging off the sides) or spray with cooking spray.
2
|
Place a skillet over medium heat on the stove top. Add ground beef and break apart with a spatula. Add the dried minced onion, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper. Continue to cook until meat is browned and cooked through. Remove from the heat.
3
|
If necessary, tilt the pan to spoon off and discard excess fat. Add the mayonnaise and stir to combine.
4
|
Using a large serrated knife, and keeping the buns connected, cut the Hawaiian rolls lengthwise creating one large top later and bottom layer.
5
|
Place bottom bun layer in prepared baking dish. Spoon the ground beef mixture evenly on top and layer the cheese slices. You may have to cut one slice of cheese in half to cover the last bit of ground beef. Finally, with cut side down add the top bun layer.
6
|
Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 5 minutes or until cheese is fully melted and tops are golden. Remove from the oven.
7
|
Lift the parchment paper to remove all the sliders from the dish. Cut along the lines to form individual sliders. If not using parchment paper, you can cut into sliders while still in the baking dish then use a spatula to serve.
8
|
Serve with ketchup, mustard or other dippings sauces on the side.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Don't Overwork the Meat 🙌
Mix your ground beef gently with seasonings just until combined—overworking creates tough, dense patties instead of tender sliders. Form them with a light touch and make a small thumbprint indent in the center to prevent bulging during cooking.
  • Toast Your Rolls for Texture 🔥
Lightly butter and toast the Hawaiian rolls cut-side down on the griddle for 1-2 minutes to create a crispy exterior that won't get soggy from condiments. This also adds subtle richness and prevents the buns from falling apart.
  • Bloom Your Spice Blend 🧂
Mix your dry seasonings (paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, dried onions) into the beef evenly 10 minutes before cooking to allow flavors to distribute throughout. This creates more consistent taste in every slider versus sprinkling them on top.
  • Melt Cheese Like a Pro 🧀
Place cheese on the patties in the final 30-45 seconds of cooking and immediately cover with a damp paper towel or lid—trapped steam will melt it perfectly without overcooking the meat. This prevents burnt cheese while ensuring creamy coverage.
  • Mayo Spread Secret 🥄
Mix your mayo with a pinch of the same spice blend (paprika, garlic, onion powder) before spreading on rolls to create a cohesive flavor profile that ties all elements together. This elevates the simple condiment into a signature sauce.
