Instructions
1
|
Cut the ginger into disks.
2
|
Bring the water and ginger to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, you could divide ginger coins between 2 mugs and pour hot water into the mugs. Wait a minute or two until ginger softens and bruise with a spoon.
3
|
You can either remove ginger chunks from the mugs or leave it in. I leave it in, but it's a personal preference.
4
|
Add the lemon juice and honey between the mugs and stir to dissolve honey.
5
|
Serve.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Ginger Preparation Technique 🔪Slice ginger with the skin on and lightly crush the pieces before steeping to maximize flavor extraction and release beneficial compounds without losing nutritional value.
- Water Temperature Control 🌡️Use water heated to 160-180°F rather than boiling to preserve the delicate aromatics of ginger and lemon while preventing honey from losing its enzymes and antimicrobial properties.
- Lemon Juice Timing ⏱️Add fresh lemon juice only after the tea has cooled slightly to prevent vitamin C degradation, and squeeze it fresh rather than using bottled juice for superior flavor and health benefits.
- Honey Integration Strategy 🍯Stir honey into the tea when it's warm but not hot to preserve its probiotic cultures and enzymatic benefits while ensuring it dissolves completely and distributes evenly.
- Steeping Duration Mastery ☕Steep ginger for 5-7 minutes to achieve optimal flavor balance and medicinal potency without developing an overly bitter or harsh taste from over-extraction.
