Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toast Almonds Separately 🔆Toast sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until golden and fragrant, then set aside. This prevents them from becoming soggy and ensures maximum crunch when added at the end.
- Blanch Then Shock Green Beans ❄️Boil green beans for 3-4 minutes until just tender-crisp, then immediately plunge into ice water to stop cooking. This preserves their vibrant green color and prevents overcooking when sautéing with butter.
- Brown Your Butter 🧈Cook butter in a separate pan until it turns golden-brown with a nutty aroma before tossing with the beans. This adds incredible depth of flavor that elevates the simple dish significantly.
- Balance Acid at the End 🍋Add fresh lemon juice in the final 30 seconds of cooking and taste as you go—this brightens the dish without overwhelming the delicate flavors. Start with half a lemon and adjust to preference.
- Finish with Fleur de Sel ✨Use fine table salt during cooking, but finish the dish with a sprinkle of fleur de sel just before serving for a pop of texture and refined taste. This technique separates restaurant-quality from home-cooked.
