Tips & Tricks (5)
- Toast Almonds Separately 🥜Toast sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and golden, then set aside. This prevents them from burning when added at the end and maximizes their crunch and nutty flavor.
- Blanch Green Beans First 💚Briefly blanch trimmed green beans in salted boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then shock in ice water to stop cooking. This ensures tender-crisp beans with vibrant color before the final sauté.
- Finish with Browned Butter 🧈Brown your butter until it reaches a nutty aroma (about 2-3 minutes), then toss with the warm beans for deep, complex flavor that elevates the entire dish.
- Zest Before Juicing Lemon 🍋Add fresh lemon zest along with the juice just before serving to provide bright acidity and aromatic citrus notes without making the beans watery.
- Season in Layers 🧂Salt the blanched beans lightly while still warm, then taste and adjust seasoning after adding butter and lemon for perfectly balanced flavors throughout.
