Tips & Tricks (5)
- Select Firm Apples for Stability 🍎Choose Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples that are firm and won't soften easily; slice horizontally through the middle to create a stable base for your monster's features.
- Toast Almonds for Enhanced Flavor 🌰Lightly toast sliced almonds in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes before using them as teeth; this deepens their flavor and makes them slightly more rigid for better placement.
- Use Natural Peanut Butter for Better Adhesion 🥜Select natural peanut butter without added oils, as it's thicker and grips candies and almonds more securely than conventional brands, preventing toppings from sliding off.
- Slice Strawberries Last Minute 🍓Cut strawberry pieces immediately before assembly to prevent oxidation and browning; this keeps your monster's mouth vibrant red and visually appealing for serving.
- Create a Peanut Butter Anchor 🎯Apply a small dollop of peanut butter to the candy eyes before pressing into the apple to act as a tacky glue, ensuring they stay in place even when children handle the treats.
