Homemade Texas Toast Bread

Ingredients
Instructions
- Step 1
In a bowl or stand mixer, combine flour, warm milk, sugar, yeast, salt, and egg. Knead until a rough dough forms, then add the softened butter. Continue kneading for about 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Cover and let the dough rest for about 1 hour, or until slightly risen.
- Step 2
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape them into balls. Roll each ball out into a small rectangle.Roll the dough up tightly into a log shape and seal the ends so it holds the rectangular Texas toast shape.Make sure the smooth side of the dough faces upward, as this will become the top of the bread.
- Step 3
Place the shaped dough pieces into a 20×20 cm baking pan. Let them rest for about 30 minutes so they rise again.
- Step 4
Brush the tops with a mixture of egg and milk, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for about 28–30 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.
