Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Wings Dry for Better Browning 🍗Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels before adding to the slow cooker to remove excess moisture, allowing the skin to brown better and the sauce to adhere properly.
- Bloom Your Spices First 🌶️Toast the garlic powder and onion powder in a dry skillet for 30 seconds before mixing into your sauce to intensify their flavors and eliminate any raw, dusty taste.
- Strain and Reduce Sauce for Thickness 🍯After cooking, remove wings and strain the sauce through a fine mesh to eliminate excess liquid, then simmer in a saucepan for 5-10 minutes to thicken it to a glossy, coating consistency.
- Add Honey at the End 🍂Stir in honey during the last 30 minutes of cooking rather than at the beginning to prevent caramelization and preserve its delicate floral notes for a balanced sweet-spicy profile.
- Use Whole Chipotle Peppers for Depth 🔥Buy canned chipotle peppers in adobo and puree 2-3 whole peppers with their sauce instead of using pre-made sauce for a more complex, authentic smoky flavor that penetrates the meat better.
