Instructions

1

In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and lavender and place over medium heat.
2
|
Bring the mixture to a simmer and lower the heat a bit. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes at which time the sugar should have completely dissolved and the syrup started to thicken.
3
|
Let cool slightly and then strain the mixture through a sieve to remove the lavender. Pour into an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Strain Twice for Clarity ✨
After steeping, strain through cheesecloth or a fine-mesh sieve twice to remove all lavender particles and sediment for a crystal-clear, professional-looking syrup.
  • Don't Boil the Lavender 🌸
Heat the water and sugar separately, then pour the hot mixture over dried lavender and let it steep for 15-20 minutes rather than boiling it together to preserve delicate floral notes and prevent bitterness.
  • Use Culinary-Grade Lavender 🫖
Source dried culinary lavender specifically (not decorative or fragrance-grade) to ensure food safety and superior flavor that won't taste soapy or overpowering in your applications.
  • Balance Your Ratio 🎯
Use 2-3 tablespoons of dried lavender per cup of water for optimal flavor intensity; start conservatively and adjust to taste, as lavender's potency varies by quality and freshness.
  • Store in Glass for Longevity 🏺
Keep cooled syrup in glass bottles in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks to prevent any plastic interaction with the floral compounds and maintain the purest flavor profile.
