Ingredients
- 500 grams - frozen fries
- 3–4 slice - American cheese
- 3 - onions
- pinch - salt
- 1 tsp - honey
- 400–450 grams - ground beef
- salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika
- small - small amount of mustard
- 3 tablespoons - mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp - ketchup
- 1 tsp - mustard
- 1 tbsp - pickle brine
- 1 - pickle
- salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika
- 2–3 - pickles
Instructions
- Place the thinly sliced onions in a pan over medium-low heat with a pinch of salt and the honey. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden, soft, and jammy. Set aside.
- Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle brine, and finely chopped pickle in a small bowl. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir well, taste, and adjust seasoning. Refrigerate until needed.
- Place the frozen fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for approximately 20 minutes at the temperature recommended on the packaging, shaking halfway through, until deeply golden and crispy on the outside.
- Transfer the hot fries to an oven-safe dish and lay the cheese slices directly over the top. Place in the oven under the broiler on the highest rack and broil for 4 to 5 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and just beginning to bubble. Do not use top and bottom heat, broil from above only.
- While the cheese melts, season the ground beef with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder and form into one or two patties. Heat a pan over high heat and sear the patty for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Just before flipping, spread a small amount of mustard onto the surface of the patty and let it caramelize against the pan for that authentic animal style flavor.
- Place the cheesy fries as the base. Break the beef patty into pieces or slice and place on top. Spoon the animal style sauce generously over everything. Add the caramelized onions, then finish with the sliced pickles arranged on top.
- Eat straight from the bowl while the fries are still crispy and everything is warm. Add extra sauce on the side for dipping.
