Tips & Tricks (5)
- Slice Onions Uniformly 🔪Cut all onions to the same thickness (about ¼ inch) to ensure even caramelization and prevent some pieces from burning while others remain undercooked.
- Use the Sauté Function First 🍳Sauté the onions in butter for 2-3 minutes on high before pressurizing to develop initial color and deepen the caramelization flavor.
- Deglaze After Cooking 💧After releasing pressure, add a splash of beef or chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon to capture all the flavorful browned bits for extra depth.
- Brown Sugar Timing is Key ⏱️Add brown sugar in the last 2 minutes of cooking rather than at the start to prevent burning and ensure a sweet, glossy finish without bitterness.
- Keep Warm Setting for Service 🔥Switch to the Warm setting after cooking to keep onions at the perfect serving temperature for hours without further cooking or losing moisture, ideal for buffet-style service.
