Tips & Tricks (5)
- Slice Onions Uniformly 🔪Cut onions into consistent 1/4-inch slices to ensure even caramelization in the Instant Pot, preventing some pieces from burning while others remain undercooked.
- Use Sauté Mode First 🍳Activate the sauté function before pressure cooking to lightly brown the onions and butter together, which builds deeper flavor and accelerates the caramelization process.
- Don't Skip the Deglazing Step 💧Add a splash of water or broth after sautéing to deglaze the pot bottom, scraping up those flavorful browned bits that intensify the final taste.
- Quick Release Prevents Overcooking 💨Use quick release immediately after the 8-minute pressure cook cycle to stop the cooking process and maintain the onions' texture, preventing them from becoming mushy.
- Keep Warm for Extended Service ☀️Switch to warm mode after cooking to maintain perfect serving temperature for hours at events, allowing guests to serve themselves without the onions drying out or losing quality.
