Instructions

1
|
Preheat the oven to 300℉. Butter a 9×9 pan and line the bottom and 2 sides with parchment leaving an inch or two overhang on each side.
2
|
In a medium size bowl mix together flour, baking powder and salt, set aside.
3
|
In a large pot over medium heat brown the butter stirring occasionally.
4
|
Remove from heat, whisk in brown sugar and vanilla.
5
|
Using an electric mixer whip in eggs. Mix on medium high until light and fluffy. It is important that this mixture is well mixed and the color changes from a darker brown to a lighter tan.
6
|
Add in the dry ingredients and continue to mix until well mixed and no lumps remain.
7
|
Evenly spread batter in prepared pan.
8
|
Dollop hazelnut spread by the spoonful evenly across the surface of the batter. Drag a butter knife through the spread to swirl it through the batter. Drag it through again in the opposite direction to swirl more.
9
|
Bake for 30-35 minutes in a glass pan, or for 20-25 minutes if using a metal one. The edges will be golden brown and the middle still slightly gooey.
10
|
Remove from the oven and allow to cool at least 2 hours before cutting. It is normal for the middle to sink below the edges.
11
|
Cut into 16 squares to serve.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Brown Your Butter Slowly 🧈
Cook butter over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden amber with a nutty aroma—this intensifies flavor and prevents burning that can occur with high heat.
  • Cool Brown Butter Before Mixing ❄️
Let the browned butter cool to room temperature before combining with eggs and sugar to prevent scrambling the eggs and ensuring even distribution throughout the batter.
  • Swirl Nutella Strategically 🌀
Reserve 1/3 of the batter, pour 2/3 into the pan first, then drop spoonfuls of Nutella and top with remaining batter before swirling with a knife to create those coveted gooey pockets without over-mixing.
  • Underbake Slightly for Gooey Centers 🎯
Remove blondies when a toothpick inserted in the center still has a few moist crumbs attached (not fully clean)—they'll continue cooking as they cool and develop that perfect fudgy texture.
  • Use Room Temperature Nutella 🏠
Warm your Nutella jar in warm water for 2-3 minutes before using so it's slightly softened and easier to drizzle and swirl without creating lumps in the batter.
