Instructions

1
|
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
2
|
Roll the pie crust 1/4 inch thick and cut into rectangles, about 2×3 inches. Use a ruler if necessary.
3
|
Place one rectangle on a lightly floured work surface, top with 1 teaspoon each of the peanut butter and preserves in the very center.
4
|
Lightly dip your index finger into a cup of water and “brush” the border of the dough around the filling with the water. This will allow the two sides of the rectangle to adhere to one another.
5
|
Top with another rectangular piece of pie dough. Take the tines of a fork and gently press down along the edges to adhere making sure the mixture stays inside the tart.
6
|
Using a fork or toothpick, poke a few small holes in the tops of the pastry to allow steam to escape.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Chill Your Dough 🧊
Refrigerate your pie dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling and cutting to prevent shrinkage and ensure flaky, crispy layers in your finished pop tarts.
  • Create a Proper Seal 🔐
Use a fork to press and crimp the edges firmly, then brush the sealed edges with water before baking to prevent filling from leaking and achieve a golden, defined border.
  • Balance Your Fillings 🎯
Use approximately 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and ½ tablespoon of preserves per pop tart to achieve the perfect ratio—too much filling will burst through, too little lacks flavor impact.
  • Egg Wash for Golden Shine ✨
Brush a light egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water) over the tops before baking to create a beautiful golden-brown exterior and professional appearance.
  • Warm Your Peanut Butter 🥜
Slightly warm the peanut butter (15-20 seconds in the microwave) to make it more spreadable and ensure even distribution without tearing the delicate dough.
