Instructions
1
Place the maple syrup, bourbon, orange juice, dijon and whole grain mustard (if using) into a small sauce pan and whisk to combine. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to medium and cook for 5-10 minutes or until thickened.
2
Pour the water into the slow cooker. Unwrap the ham, spread the slices apart and place in the slow cooker cut side up.
3
Pour the glaze over the ham and in between the slices. Only use half of the glaze here if you'd like a sticky sweet exterior on your ham (see notes). Cover and cook on low for 2 1/2 – 3 hours or until warmed through (about 140 degrees), basting from time to time when you think about it. Slice, serve and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Score the Ham Surface 🔪Cut shallow diagonal lines across the ham's surface in a crosshatch pattern before cooking to help the glaze penetrate deeper and caramelize beautifully during the slow cooking process.
- Brush Glaze in Stages 🖌️Apply the maple glaze in 2-3 coats during the last 30 minutes of cooking rather than all at once, allowing each layer to set slightly for a rich, glossy finish without burning.
- Balance Your Bourbon Ratio 🥃Use quality bourbon and add it to the glaze early so the alcohol cooks off while infusing deep caramel notes; too much bourbon overpowers the maple, so measure carefully.
- Choose the Right Ham Cut 🍖Select a bone-in ham half rather than boneless for superior flavor and moisture retention, as the bone marrow enriches the cooking liquid and creates a more succulent final dish.
- Fresh Orange Juice Over Concentrate 🍊Always use freshly squeezed or high-quality fresh orange juice instead of concentrate to ensure bright citrus notes cut through the richness without adding unwanted sweetness from added sugars.
