Instructions
1
Heat a large skillet over medium, coat with olive oil, then add the ground beef.
2
Cook the ground beef until brown, breaking it apart into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease from the skillet, then return to the stove.
3
As the meat cooks, whisk the chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper together in a small bowl.
4
Stir taco seasoning into cooked meat, then add water. Stir until combined, let simmer for about 5 minutes.
5
As the taco filling simmers and begins to thicken, warm tortillas, and prepare any additional toppings.
6
*Warm tortillas on a hot comal, over an open flame, or wrapped in foil in the oven at 300F.
7
Divide the ground beef into equal portions, then load the tortillas up, and top with desired toppings.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Bloom Your Spices First 🌶️Toast the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and paprika in the hot oil for 30 seconds before adding beef to unlock their full aromatic potential and deepen flavor complexity.
- Don't Overwork the Meat 🥩Break the ground beef into small, bite-sized pieces rather than stirring constantly—this creates texture variation and prevents a dense, compact filling.
- Warm Your Tortillas Properly 🔥Heat tortillas directly over a gas flame or in a dry skillet for 15-20 seconds per side to make them pliable and add subtle charred flavor that complements the seasoned beef.
- Let Seasoning Dissolve Evenly 💧Add a splash of water or broth when the meat is nearly cooked to help the spice blend distribute evenly and create a light, flavorful sauce that clings to each piece.
- Build Your Seasoning Layers 🧂Reserve a pinch of your spice blend to sprinkle on top of assembled tacos just before serving—this final seasoning punch provides brightness and prevents flavors from becoming muted by toppings.
