Tips & Tricks (5)
- Bloom Your Taco Seasoning 🌶️Toast your taco seasoning in the hot oil for 30 seconds before adding ground meat to unlock deeper, more complex flavors and prevent raw spice bitterness.
- Crisp Your Tortilla Chip Base 🥗Lightly toss tortilla chips with olive oil and toast them in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes before serving to restore crunchiness and prevent them from getting soggy from wet toppings.
- Prep Your Mise en Place Cold ❄️Keep all fresh toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, cilantro) refrigerated and chilled until service to maintain crispness and prevent wilting when combined with warm meat.
- Render the Meat Properly 🍖Break ground meat into small pieces as it cooks and allow it to brown undisturbed for 2-3 minutes per side to develop fond and caramelization instead of steaming.
- Lime Juice Last-Second Squeeze 🍋Squeeze fresh lime juice over individual bowls just before eating rather than mixing it in advance to preserve bright acidity and prevent browning of vegetables.
