Tips & Tricks (5)
- Flax Egg Activation 🥚Mix your flax egg (1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water) and let it sit for 5 minutes before adding to the batter to ensure proper binding and moisture retention in the final bars.
- Vegan Butter Temperature 🧈Use room-temperature vegan butter when creaming with brown sugar to achieve maximum volume and a light, fluffy texture that creates chewy rather than dense bars.
- Chocolate Chip Placement Strategy 🍫Reserve half your chocolate chips and sprinkle them on top of the batter just before baking so they stay on the surface for melty pockets instead of sinking to the bottom.
- Underbake for Chewiness 🍪Remove bars from the oven when the edges are set but the center still jiggles slightly—they'll continue cooking as they cool, resulting in perfectly chewy rather than cake-like bars.
- Peanut Butter Quality Matters 🥜Use natural, creamy peanut butter with minimal added oils and sugar to achieve authentic, rich peanut flavor and better texture than heavily processed brands.
