Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pumpkin Puree Moisture Management 💧Drain excess liquid from your pumpkin puree using a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth for 15 minutes before mixing to prevent a dense, overly moist cake.
- Room Temperature Cream Cheese Frosting 🧈Ensure both cream cheese and butter are at room temperature before beating to achieve a smooth, fluffy frosting that spreads evenly without lumps or cracks.
- Don't Overmix the Batter 🥄Mix the pumpkin puree and cake mix just until combined—overmixing develops gluten and creates a tough, dense cake rather than a tender crumb.
- Cool Completely Before Frosting ❄️Allow the cake to cool completely to room temperature before applying frosting; frosting a warm cake will melt and slide off unevenly.
- Enhance Spice Depth with Extra Cinnamon 🎃Add an extra ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the dry cake mix to amplify the pumpkin spice profile beyond what the box mix alone provides.
