Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Dry for Maximum Crispiness 💧Pat your cod fillets completely dry with paper towels before breading to remove excess moisture, which prevents steam from softening the coating and ensures a truly crispy golden exterior.
- Double-Dredge for Extra Crunch 🍞After your initial egg and panko coating, lightly dip the fish stick back into the egg wash and panko a second time for an extra-thick, supremely crunchy breaded layer.
- Infuse Panko with Old Bay 🧂Mix your Old Bay seasoning directly into the panko crumbs before breading rather than relying solely on the egg wash, creating an intensely flavored, evenly-seasoned coating throughout.
- Use Parchment for Easy Flipping ✨Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper and lightly spray it with cooking oil to prevent sticking, making it easier to flip fish sticks halfway through for even browning on both sides.
- Finish with Fresh Lemon Zest 🍋Grate fresh lemon zest directly onto the hot fish sticks immediately after air frying to add bright, aromatic citrus notes that complement the delicate cod and enhance the overall flavor profile.
