Instructions
1
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C for 3 to 4 minutes. Wash the asparagus and trim or snap off the woody ends. (To do this, bend the asparagus spear in the lower third until the woody end snaps off.)
2
Place the asparagus on a board or plate. Drizzle oil over the asparagus and season with salt, then mix the asparagus well with your hands or kitchen tongs so that the spears are evenly coated with oil.
3
Place the asparagus spears side by side in the air fryer basket and cook at 200°C for 6–8 minutes, depending on their thickness. Give the basket a quick shake halfway through the cooking time. If your asparagus spears are too long for the air fryer, you can cut them in half.
4
The asparagus is done when it has a vibrant green color and feels soft when pierced with a fork, but still offers some resistance. Season the asparagus to taste with lemon juice and, if necessary, a little salt. Serve with your choice of side dishes.
5
Version with Parmesan: After shaking (halfway through the cooking time), distribute the Parmesan evenly over the asparagus and continue cooking as described above.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Dry for Maximum Crispness 🌊Pat your asparagus completely dry with paper towels before air frying to remove excess moisture, ensuring the outer tips crisp beautifully while the inside stays tender.
- Trim Woody Ends First ✂️Snap off the tough woody ends by bending each spear until it naturally breaks at the tender point, eliminating chewy portions and ensuring uniform, delicious texture throughout.
- Single Layer and Shake Halfway 🔄Arrange asparagus in a single layer without crowding, then shake the basket halfway through cooking at 400°F for 10-12 minutes to ensure even browning on all sides.
- Add Cheese at the End ⏱️Sprinkle Parmesan cheese in the final 1-2 minutes of cooking rather than at the start, allowing it to melt slightly and adhere perfectly without burning or becoming bitter.
- Finish with Fresh Lemon Zest 🍋Add lemon zest immediately after cooking instead of lemon juice, which can make asparagus soggy; the zest provides bright citrus flavor while preserving the crispy texture you've achieved.
