Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons - butter
  • 1 lb - Italian sausage
  • 1 cup - Celery
  • ½ cup - Onion
  • 1 tbsp - Fresh thyme
  • 2 teaspoons - Poultry Seasoning
  • 2 - Granny Smith apples
  • 8 cups - Italian bread cubes
  • 1 cup - Dried cranberries
  • ½ cup - Pecans
  • 2 cups - Turkey stock
  • 1 - Egg
  • ¼ tsp - Salt
  • ¼ tsp - Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉.
  2. In a large skillet over medium high heat, cook sausage, making sure to break it up into fine pieces.
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes then add celery and onions; continue cooking until sausage is no longer pink.
  4. Add thyme, poultry seasoning and apples; stir to combine.
  5. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to soften apples a bit.
  6. Meanwhile, place dried bread cubes in a large bowl.
  7. Stir in cranberries and pecans.
  8. Add sausage and apple mixture to bread cubes; stir to combine.
  9. Taste for seasoning; add salt and pepper as needed.
  10. Whisk egg into turkey stock and pour over bread cubes; stir to combine.
  11. Place mixture in a buttered baking dish.
  12. Bake for 30 minutes.
