Tips & Tricks (5)
- Choose the Right Apple Varieties 🍎Use firm baking apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn that hold their shape during cooking rather than softer varieties that turn to mush.
- Create the Perfect Hollow 🔪Use a melon baller or small spoon to carefully core the apple from the top, leaving about ½ inch of flesh at the bottom to contain the filling and juices.
- Toast Your Raisins First 🌟Plump up raisins by soaking them in warm apple juice for 5 minutes before baking to intensify their sweetness and create a more luxurious texture.
- Nail the Liquid-to-Heat Ratio 💧Pour apple juice mixed with water around the apples (not inside) to create steam for even cooking and a naturally glazed exterior without drying out the flesh.
- Time it Right for Peak Flavor ⏱️Bake at 375°F for 25-35 minutes until the skin just begins to split—this is your signal they're perfectly tender while still maintaining their shape.
