Tips & Tricks (5)
- Prevent Soggy Bottoms 🛡️Place parchment paper on your baking sheet and lightly brush the bottom of each roll-up with olive oil before baking to create a crispy, golden exterior and prevent moisture from making them soggy.
- Cheese Distribution Magic 🧀Shred your mozzarella cheese finely and mix it with Italian seasoning before filling—this ensures even flavor distribution and helps the cheese melt uniformly throughout each roll-up.
- Dough Temperature Matters ❄️Keep your crescent roll dough or puff pastry cold until the last moment before rolling and filling; cold dough puffs up more dramatically in the oven for a lighter, flakier texture.
- Golden-Brown Timing Hack 🎯Brush the tops of roll-ups with a light egg wash (egg beaten with water) about 5 minutes before they're done baking to achieve that beautiful, professional golden-brown finish.
- Make-Ahead Freezer Strategy ❄️Assemble roll-ups on a baking sheet, freeze them unbaked for 2 hours, then transfer to a freezer bag; bake directly from frozen at the same temperature, adding just 2-3 minutes to cooking time for maximum convenience.
