Tips & Tricks (5)
- Choose the Right Apple Variety 🍎Use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp that hold their shape during baking and provide bright acidity to balance the rich pork and sweet brown sugar glaze.
- Sear Before Baking 🔥Sear the pork chops in olive oil for 2-3 minutes per side before baking to develop a golden crust and lock in juices, creating superior depth of flavor.
- Caramelize Onions First ✨Sauté the onions separately until golden and sweet before layering with apples; this intensifies their natural sugars and prevents soggy vegetables.
- Use a Meat Thermometer 🌡️Check for 145°F internal temperature to avoid overcooking lean pork, which ensures juicy, tender chops rather than dry, tough meat.
- Toast the Cinnamon and Brown Sugar 🤎Bloom the cinnamon in melted butter and mix with brown sugar before applying to create a deeper, more complex sweetness that doesn't taste artificial.
