Air-fried baked potatoes are quick and easy to make with just a few simple ingredients: starchy potatoes, a bit of oil, and salt. In only 35 to 45 minutes, the inside turns wonderfully soft and fluffy, while the skin crisps up perfectly. They’re a versatile side that pairs beautifully with butter, sour cream, or your favorite toppings.

Instructions

1
|
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F). Meanwhile, scrub the potatoes clean under running water and pat dry with paper towels.
2
|
Place the potatoes on a plate and rub them with oil and salt. Arrange the potatoes side by side in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching.
3
|
Bake the potatoes in an air fryer at 200°C for 30 minutes. Turn the potatoes over after 30 minutes and bake for another 5 to 20 minutes at 200°C, depending on their size. The potatoes are done when you can insert a sharp knife into the potato and pull it out without noticeable resistance.
4
|
Cut the baked potatoes lengthwise and serve with toppings of your choice.

Tips & Tricks (5)

  • Potato Selection Perfection 🥔
Choose high-starch potatoes like Russet or Idaho for the fluffiest interior and crispiest skin when air frying.
  • Piercing Precision 🔪
Always pierce the potato 4-5 times with a fork before cooking to allow steam to escape and prevent potential potato explosions.
  • Oil Coating Technique 🧴
Lightly coat the potato skin with canola oil and kosher salt to ensure maximum crispiness and flavor penetration.
  • Fluffiness Hack 💨
After cooking, gently squeeze the potato and let it rest for 2-3 minutes to allow the interior to become extra fluffy and light.
  • Topping Temperature Trick 🧈
Let toppings like butter and sour cream come to room temperature before adding to ensure they melt and blend smoothly into the hot potato.
