Tips & Tricks (5)
- Banana Ripeness is Critical 🍌Use bananas with brown spots and slightly soft skin for maximum sweetness and moisture; over-ripe bananas (nearly black) add deeper flavor but may require slightly less added liquid.
- Don't Overmix the Batter 🥄Fold ingredients together until just combined with visible flour streaks remaining; overmixing develops gluten and creates dense, tough muffins with tunnels instead of tender crumbs.
- Toast Chocolate Chips First ✨Warm chocolate chips briefly in a dry skillet before folding into batter to intensify their flavor and prevent them from sinking to the bottom during baking.
- Fill Muffin Cups Strategically 🧁Fill cups only two-thirds full and reserve some batter to add a final layer on top after 5 minutes of baking for beautiful, domed muffin tops with concentrated chocolate chips.
- Cool Before Freezing for Best Texture 🧊Allow muffins to cool completely to room temperature before freezing in airtight containers; this prevents condensation that would make them soggy when thawed.
