Tips & Tricks (5)
- Double-Fold Foil Technique 📦Use heavy-duty foil and fold edges twice to create an airtight seal that traps steam and prevents leaks, ensuring even cooking and maximum flavor retention throughout the cooking process.
- Pre-Brown Your Ground Beef 🍖Quickly sear the ground beef in a skillet before adding to packets—this develops a flavorful crust and helps render excess fat, preventing soggy packets and improving overall taste.
- Potato Pre-Cut Strategy ✂️Slice baby gold potatoes to ¼-inch thickness rather than halving them; thinner slices cook evenly in the 20-25 minute window without requiring pre-boiling, saving prep time.
- Strategic Seasoning Layers 🧅Sprinkle French onion soup mix directly on meat and vegetables separately instead of mixing; this creates pockets of intense flavor that distribute evenly as steam circulates during cooking.
- Moisture Balance Control 💧Add just 2-3 tablespoons of beef broth or water per packet—too much creates steam-cooked vegetables, while too little causes sticking; the vegetables release their own liquid as they cook.
