This cozy Beef & Cabbage Shepherd’s Pie is super hearty and exactly the kind of dish you want when you plan to stay in your PJs and watch reruns of Supernatural all night. Our version has no peas, because we’re not big fans. Instead, we use cabbage and cook it with carrots, onions, and ground beef. It all gets coated in a rich, hearty gravy made with thyme, broth, a little tomato paste, and some Worcestershire sauce. Finally, we top the meat and vegetables with creamy mashed potatoes and a dusting of parmesan and bake it until golden and bubbly.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Potato Perfection 🥔Warm your milk and butter before adding to mashed potatoes to create an ultra-smooth, creamy topping that spreads easily over the filling.
- Cabbage Caramelization Secret 🥬Pat the cabbage dry before sautéing to ensure proper browning and prevent excess moisture that could make the filling soggy.
- Flavor Layering Technique 🧅Caramelize the onions slowly before adding ground beef to build a deep, rich base of flavor for the shepherd's pie.
- Gravy Thickening Pro Tip 🥄Create a smooth roux by cooking flour and butter together before adding beef broth to prevent lumpy gravy and enhance the sauce's depth.
- Golden Crust Hack 🧀Sprinkle an extra layer of parmesan cheese on top and broil for 2-3 minutes to create a crispy, golden-brown crust that adds incredible texture.
