Tips & Tricks (5)
- Room Temperature Ingredients 🌡️Bring eggs and cake mix to room temperature before mixing to ensure even distribution of the Birthday Cake Kisses and prevent dense, unevenly textured cookies.
- Chill Dough Between Batches 🧊Refrigerate your dough for 15-20 minutes between batches to prevent the oil from making cookies spread too thin and to help the Kisses stay centered during baking.
- Strategic Kiss Placement 🎂Press Birthday Cake Kisses into the center of dough balls immediately after placing on the baking sheet, then bake right away so they nestle perfectly into warm cookies as they bake.
- Oil Selection Matters 🛢️Use neutral vegetable oil rather than olive oil, and measure precisely—too much oil creates greasy, flat cookies while too little results in dry, crumbly texture.
- Underbake Slightly for Softness 🍪Remove cookies from the oven when edges are set but centers still appear slightly underdone—they'll continue cooking on the sheet and stay chewy with a soft, cake-like crumb.
