Blood Orange Margaritas
Instructions
1
Begin by juicing your blood oranges and limes. To make the margarita mix, combine the blood orange juice, lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur, and simple syrup in a small pitcher. Taste, and add more simple syrup, alcohol, or juice as necessary. Refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.
2
To assemble the margaritas, place about 2 Tablespoons of margarita salt or sugar on a plate, and gently tap the plate to spread it out. Rub the rim of four margarita glasses with a wedge of lime. Press the rim of the glasses into the salt or sugar to ensure an even coat. Fill each glass with ice, and add 5.25 ounces of the margarita mix. Garnish with a blood orange wedge or lime wedge if desired. Serve immediately.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Chill Your Glasses 🧊Freeze your margarita glasses for at least 15 minutes before serving to keep drinks ice-cold longer and prevent dilution from condensation.
- Fresh-Squeezed Citrus Only 🍊Always use freshly squeezed blood orange and lime juice rather than bottled for superior flavor complexity and natural acidity that elevates the entire cocktail.
- Balance Your Simple Syrup 🍯Make a 1:1 simple syrup and taste-test your batch before serving—blood oranges vary in natural sweetness, so you may need to adjust ratios slightly for perfect balance.
- Double-Rim Technique ✨For a sugar rim, wet the glass edge with blood orange juice first, then dip in superfine sugar mixed with a pinch of sea salt for depth that complements both sweet and salty preferences.
- Measure with Precision 📏Use a cocktail jigger (1.5 oz for tequila, 1 oz for liqueur) to ensure consistent, balanced drinks every time rather than free-pouring, especially when scaling for multiple servings.
