Blood Orange Mojito

Blood Orange Mojito

This blood orange mojito is such a fun variation on a classic cocktail. I LOVE a good Mojito Cocktail and while I’m a huge fan of the classic recipe, I always love a fun twist as well. This Blood Orange Mojito is simple to make and such a great way to enjoy blood orange season!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup - water
  • ½ cup - granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup - fresh mint leaves
  • ½ - blood orange
  • 1 oz - white rum
  • 1 - lime
  • 1 - blood orange
  • ½ oz - simple syrup
  • 4 - mint leaves
  • club soda or seltzer water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan set over medium-high heat, combine the water, granulated sugar, mint leaves, and blood orange juice. Bring to a boil and cook until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat. Cover and allow the syrup to steep for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the mint leaves and orange pulp.
  2. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  3. Mix the rum, lime juice, blood orange juice, simple syrup, and mint in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for about 30 seconds so that the drink is thoroughly mixed and nicely chilled.
  4. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice and top with club soda. Garnish with mint leaves and a slice of blood orange. ENJOY!
  5. To make a virgin mojito, leave out the rum.
  6. I recommend using freshly squeezed juice. It really makes a difference.
