Instructions
1
Place the butter in a stainless saucepan over low heat until melted. Once melted, increase the heat to medium high and cook until the butter foams and brown spots are visible along the bottom of the pan, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
2
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and pour 1 tablespoon of the brown butter into the bottom of a standard loaf pan and brush well along the sides.
3
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
4
Add the maple syrup and the beer and stir just until combined.
5
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Pour the remaining 3 tablespoons of brown butter over the top of the batter.
6
Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Brown Your Butter Until Nutty 🧈Cook the butter over medium heat until it turns golden-brown with a rich, nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes), then let it cool slightly before mixing to prevent curdling the beer and preserve those complex flavors.
- Use Room Temperature Beer for Best Rise 🍺Cold beer will slow the fermentation process; ensure your beer is at room temperature so the yeast activates properly and creates maximum lift in your bread.
- Don't Overmix Your Dough 🥄Stir ingredients just until combined—overmixing develops gluten unnecessarily and results in a dense, tough loaf instead of the light, tender crumb this recipe requires.
- Maple Syrup Adds Caramelization and Depth 🍯The maple syrup enhances browning through the Maillard reaction; brush it on top before baking or mix into the batter for deeper, more complex sweetness throughout.
- Test Doneness with the Hollow Sound Method 🔊Tap the bottom of the baked bread—a hollow sound indicates it's fully baked inside; if it sounds dense, return it to the oven for 5 more minutes.
