Tips & Tricks (5)
- Render Bacon Fat First 🥓Cook bacon until crispy and reserve the rendered fat to sauté onions and carrots—this infuses the entire dish with rich, savory depth that plain oil cannot match.
- Cut Carrots Uniformly 🥕Slice carrots into equal-sized pieces (about ¼-inch thick) so they cook evenly and reach that perfect tender-crisp texture simultaneously.
- Caramelize Your Glaze 🍯Let the brown sugar mixture sit in the hot pan for 1-2 minutes before adding carrots to create a caramelized base that coats beautifully and prevents a watery finish.
- Strategic Seasoning Blend Timing ⏱️Add your all-purpose seasoning blend in two stages: half with the onions for depth, and the remainder in the final minute to brighten the finished dish's flavor.
- High-Heat Finish for Shine ✨Increase heat to medium-high in the last 2-3 minutes of cooking to reduce and concentrate the glaze, creating a glossy, sticky coating that clings perfectly to the carrots.
