Ingredients

  • 2 ½ pounds - salmon fillet
  • 5 tablespoons - unsalted butter room temperature
  • 2 ½ tablespoons - Cajun spice
  • 1 tbsp - honey
  • ½ tsp - salt
  • 1 tbsp - olive oil
  • Lime wedges
  • 3 tablespoons - smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons - garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp - onion powder
  • 1 tbsp - dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp - salt
  • ½ tbsp - black pepper
  • ½ tbsp - thyme
  • ½ tbsp - cayenne pepper
  • ½ tbsp - red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a small bowl, combine 5 tablespoons of room temperature butter, 2.5 tablespoons of Cajun spices, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix these ingredients together until they are fully combined. Line a baking dish with aluminum foil or parchment paper to simplify cleanup.
  2. Place the salmon fillet skin side down in the prepared baking dish. Spread a generous amount of cajun honey butter on top of the salmon using the back of a spoon. Ensure that the butter is evenly coats the salmon for a savory glaze.
  3. Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the salmon easily flakes with a fork. To enhance the presentation and flavor, after baking, you can place the salmon under the broiler for about a minute to give it a lovely caramelized glaze.
  4. Mix the dry spices thoroughly until well combined. The smoked paprika gives it a unique smoky flavor while the blend of herbs and spices adds depth and heat. Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes to suit your taste.
