Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a small bowl, combine 5 tablespoons of room temperature butter, 2.5 tablespoons of Cajun spices, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix these ingredients together until they are fully combined. Line a baking dish with aluminum foil or parchment paper to simplify cleanup.
2
Place the salmon fillet skin side down in the prepared baking dish. Spread a generous amount of cajun honey butter on top of the salmon using the back of a spoon. Ensure that the butter is evenly coats the salmon for a savory glaze.
3
Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the salmon easily flakes with a fork. To enhance the presentation and flavor, after baking, you can place the salmon under the broiler for about a minute to give it a lovely caramelized glaze.
Homemade cajun seasoning:
1
Mix the dry spices thoroughly until well combined. The smoked paprika gives it a unique smoky flavor while the blend of herbs and spices adds depth and heat. Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes to suit your taste.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Pat Salmon Dry for Crispy Skin 💧Always pat your salmon fillet completely dry with paper towels before cooking to achieve a crispy, golden exterior and prevent the honey butter glaze from becoming watery.
- Bloom Your Spices in Oil First 🌶️Toast your Cajun spice blend, cayenne, and smoked paprika in the warm olive oil for 30 seconds before adding the salmon to unlock deeper, more complex flavors and prevent raw spice tastes.
- Room Temperature Butter Creates Better Glaze 🧈Ensure your unsalted butter is truly room temperature so it emulsifies smoothly with the honey and pan juices, creating a silky, luxurious sauce that clings to the salmon rather than separating.
- Don't Skip the Lime Finish 🍋Squeeze fresh lime juice over the finished salmon just before serving to brighten the rich honey butter and balance the heat of the cayenne and red pepper flakes perfectly.
- Use Instant-Read Thermometer for Perfect Doneness 🌡️Check salmon's internal temperature at the thickest part - remove from heat at 120-125°F for medium-rare, as it will continue cooking from residual heat for a moist, flaky result.
