Tips & Tricks (5)
- Room Temperature Ingredients Are Essential 🌡️Allow eggs and milk to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before mixing; this creates a smoother batter and promotes more dramatic rise and lift in the oven.
- Preheat Your Popover Pan Thoroughly 🔥Place your popover pan in a 425°F oven for at least 5 minutes before filling to ensure the batter hits sizzling-hot cups, which creates the signature dramatic rise and crispy exterior.
- Don't Open the Oven Door 🚫Resist the temptation to peek during the first 30 minutes of baking; opening the door releases steam and pressure needed for popovers to puff up properly.
- Butter Your Pan Generously and Strategically 🧈Coat the entire interior of each cup, including the top rim, with melted butter and a sprinkle of Parmesan to achieve an ultra-crispy, golden crust on all surfaces.
- Let Batter Rest Before Baking ⏱️Allow your mixed batter to rest for 15-30 minutes; this relaxes the gluten and helps achieve lighter, more tender popovers with better structure.
