Tips & Tricks (5)
- Room Temperature Pudding Mix 🌡️Let your instant chocolate pudding mix sit at room temperature before mixing to ensure it blends smoothly with the milk and creates a silky, lump-free layer that won't sink unevenly into the cake.
- Strategic Chocolate Chip Distribution 🍫Reserve half your chocolate chips to sprinkle on top during the last 5 minutes of baking so they stay glossy and intact, rather than melting completely into the cake layers.
- Butter Melting Technique 🧈Melt butter separately and pour it evenly across the baking dish before adding dry cake mix to ensure uniform moisture distribution and prevent dry spots in the finished cake.
- Precise Milk-to-Pudding Ratio 🥛Use exactly the milk amount specified for the pudding to achieve the perfect gooey center—too much liquid creates a soupy texture, while too little results in a dense, dry cake.
- Cool Before Serving 🕐Allow the dump cake to cool for 15-20 minutes after baking so the pudding layer sets properly and the cake develops structure, making it easier to serve and enhancing the contrast between layers.
