Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 350℉. Grease the muffin tin(s) with non-stick spray or line with muffin liners.
2
In a large bowl using an electric handheld mixer, cream the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar at medium speed for 1 minute. Add the eggs, vanilla, mashed bananas, and sour cream and continue beating for 30 seconds until fluffy.
3
Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and mix at low speed just until incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4
Scoop the batter into the prepared muffin tin(s), filling each cup (18 in total) about ¾ full with batter. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the muffin tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Banana Ripeness is Critical 🍌Use bananas with brown spots and soft texture for maximum sweetness and moisture; overripe bananas provide better flavor than yellow ones and reduce the need for extra sugar.
- Don't Overmix the Batter 🥄Fold ingredients together gently until just combined—overmixing develops gluten and creates tough, dense muffins instead of the tender, fluffy texture you want.
- Toast Chocolate Chips First 🍫Lightly toast your semisweet chocolate chips in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes before adding them to enhance their depth and prevent them from sinking to the bottom.
- Sour Cream Adds Moisture and Tang 🥛The sour cream is essential for creating tender crumbs and subtle tang that balances sweetness; don't substitute with yogurt as it changes the texture and acidity balance.
- Fill Muffin Cups Strategically 🧁Fill cups two-thirds full and place a few chocolate chips on top before baking to create a beautiful finish and ensure even chocolate distribution throughout.
