Instructions
1
|
Melt the butter, then let it cool for about 5–10 minutes until just warm. Whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
2
|
Add flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.
3
|
Chill the dough in the fridge for 30–60 minutes so it firms up and becomes easier to shape.
4
|
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Press the chilled dough into a rectangle (about 1–1.5 cm thick). Slice into fry-shaped strips and transfer them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
5
|
Bake for 10-12 minutes, depending on thickness, until the edges turn lightly golden. If the dough spreads in the oven, remove the tray immediately and reshape the fries while hot using a spatula or knife.
6
|
Warm up some Nutella and serve as a dip. Enjoy fresh for the best texture.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Brown Your Butter First 🧈Melt and brown your butter for 2-3 minutes until it turns golden with a nutty aroma—this deepens the cookie flavor dramatically compared to regular melted butter.
- Cornstarch is Your Secret Weapon ✨Don't skip the cornstarch in this recipe; it creates that signature crispy-edged, soft-centered texture by reducing gluten development and absorbing moisture strategically.
- Chill Dough Before Piping 🧊Refrigerate your cookie dough for at least 30 minutes before piping into fry shapes—this prevents spreading and ensures those crispy edges while keeping centers tender.
- Use Parchment, Not Greasing 📄Always use parchment paper instead of greasing or oiling your baking sheet to prevent the bottoms from becoming over-browned while the edges crisp up perfectly.
- Warm Your Nutella Dipping Sauce 🍫Heat Nutella gently in a double boiler until silky (about 30 seconds in the microwave works too) for luxurious dipping that clings to warm fries without pooling.
