Instructions

To make the fig syrup, add the ingredients to a pot set over medium heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is at a light boil, about 3-5 minutes. Cover the pot with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and cook for another 15 minutes. Strain the syrup with a fine mesh strainer (we recommend straining it twice for best results). Set it aside to cool.

Once the syrup is cooled, fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice and add the Scotch whisky, fig syrup, and lemon juice. Shake for about 10 seconds and pour through a strainer into an old fashioned or other short glass. Add some crushed ice, a couple slices of fig, and top with sparkling water.

Tips & Tricks (5)
- Fig Syrup Precision 🍯When making the fig syrup, use ripe fresh figs and simmer slowly to extract maximum flavor, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Whisky Selection Magic 🥃Choose a smoky Scotch with subtle peaty notes to complement the sweet fig and cinnamon flavors, enhancing the cocktail's depth and complexity.
- Infusion Technique 🍂Gently toast whole cloves and cinnamon sticks before adding to the syrup to release their essential oils and intensify the warm, spicy undertones.
- Ice Crushing Pro Tip ❄️Use a clean kitchen towel and rolling pin to crush ice for a consistent texture that chills the drink without over-diluting it.
- Garnish Like a Pro 🍋Create an elegant garnish by carefully slicing fresh figs and candying the edges with a light dusting of brown sugar for visual and flavor appeal.
